The Government of Canada, through Global Affairs Canada, recently entrusted Développement international Desjardins (DID) with the Agriculture and Rural Financing in Mali project (FARM). This CAD 18 million project will run until 2020. It targets development of the agricultural sector and increased food security in Mali through increased access to financial services that are better adapted to the sector. DID will carry out this project in consortium with Financière agricole du Québec - Développement international (FADQDI).
Like the SYFAAH (Agricultural Finance and Insurance System in Haiti) and PASAC (Support for the Agricultural Finance System in Colombia) projects already being executed by DID, the FARM project will provide capacity building for agricultural producers and participating financial institutions, in addition to introducing loan insurance and crop insurance programs.
