The Desjardins Fund for Inclusive Finance, a fund managed by Développement international Desjardins, joined the shareholding of MDO Humo (Humo), an MFI based in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. By investing in Humo, the Fund aims to help the institution realize its mission of increasing access to quality financial services in rural Tajikistan.
Humo was established by CARE international in 2004 and is currently the third largest MFI in Tajikistan in terms of portfolio excluding banks. It offers individual and group loans to over 33,000 clients, mainly in rural areas of the country. The Desjardins Fund for Inclusive Finance is the first foreign shareholder of Humo, joining Humo’s founding NGO, the Nuri Humo Foundation.
