SVCL and SIDBI Trained 15000 Women Clients Through 40 Mass Awareness Camps on Digital and Financial Literacy & Women's Empowerment

SVCL, a leading Micro-Finance Institution, has organized Mass Awareness Camps (MACs) on Financial and Digital Literacy & Women’s Empowerment under Poorest State Inclusive Growth (PSIG) program, in association with Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), supported by the UKAid from the Department for International Development (DFID).

A team of trained professionals went to different rural areas of Uttar Pradesh East and Uttar Pradesh West to train SVCL’s women clients on financial literacy and women’s empowerment, organizing 40 awareness camps. SVCL’s staff at the branch level supported Master Trainers in mobilization of women clients along with men for the trainings and provided logistical support required in organizing field-level training, which also includes Mass Awareness Camps.

The objective behind these MACs are as follows:

  1. Build the capacity of women clients in terms of savings, insurance etc.;
  2. Bring out appropriate changes in their financial behavior;
  3. Enable them to make informed choices with regards to financial products and services;
  4. Ensure women clients know their rights and entitlements;
  5. Create general awareness among the women on the issues of gender equality, women’s empowerment, health and nutrition etc.;
  6. Make clients understand the mutual importance of husband and wife on the issues of financial decision making and budgeting process at household level.
