Thank you for the interesting article. I am a Rural Finance officer working on a DFID funded Livelihoods and Food Security Programme in Zimbabwe. My job involves working with with financial institutions to increase access to finance for small holder farmers in Rural Zimbabwe. Insurance has become a topical issue in our country situation because of the extreme weather conditions we face. My question is would it be possible to have details of the institutions in Tanzania rolling out the Group Multi Peril Crop Insurance (GMPCI) to cover more risks for farmers; and 2) a portfolio insurance cover. i am interested in sharing their lessons as they rolled out these products. Some of the Financial institutions I work with are participating in a pilot weather index based insurance product but we are generally still learning and could benefit more from experiences of those that have successfully offered the products.
