The program aims to promote financial empowerment through policy dialogues, pilot programs and knowledge-sharing in the rural finance sector.

The manual targets supervisors, key officers and training specialists involved in the implementation of agricultural microfinance programs, and focuses on the credit aspect of microfinance. It is based on primary and secondary data and interviews with key informants in selected APRACA represented countries.

The manual contains four modules that incorporate lecture discussions, question and answer segments, games and activities, experience-sharing by participants, group discussions, workshops, field visits and evaluation of the sessions. The objectives of the manual include:

  • Enabling APRACA member institutions to reach out to the rural and agricultural poor by providing access to financial services;
  • Introducing participants to concepts, programs, methodologies and best practices adaptable to their respective countries;
  • Encouraging participants to commit to the adoption of their re-entry plans containing insights on sustainable approaches to microfinance programs.
