Sa-Dhan is the association of community development finance in India with a mission to help its members and associate institutions to better serve low-income households, particularly women, in both rural and urban India, in their quest for establishing stable livelihoods and improving their quality of life. Sa-Dhan is recognized as a Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO) by the RBI and National Resource Organization by NRLM.
About the Job:
Sa-Dhan is looking to recruit a Zonal Coordinator for Western India. The primary responsibilities of the Regional Coordinator will be to represent the Association at the Zonal level, carry the activities of Sa-Dhan in the zone and act as an interface between the Head office in New Delhi and the microfinance institutions in the states in this zone.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Develop region specific action plans arising out of Sa-Dhan’s overall action plan.
Develop and maintain close relationship with the state administration, Lenders, Investors and stakeholders to apprise about latest development of the sector for their support and cooperation for smooth functioning and influence local policies.
Develop good rapport with MFIs and state associations for their cooperation towards market level intelligence activities on regular interval.
Field visits to the intervention areas of MFIs to assess operational practices and issues of the MFIs, listen the voices of the clients, sensitize staff on potential operational and compliance risks, external influence on microfinance, awareness & sensitization training of clients and field staff, etc.
Representation to the local offices of the Reserve Bank India, NABARD, SIDBI, other developmental institutions and stakeholders to promote community development finance and help in creating a favorable policy environment.
Organizing state forum meetings/events; Coordinate state/region level meeting of members on a periodic basis and with the stakeholders in the region on issues related to the expansion of microfinance services.
Facilitate data collection for Sa-Dhan publications and other Sa-Dhan research/surveys as applicable.
Address the needs of members by facilitating platforms for cross-learning among them in coordination with the head office. Assisting in Grievance Redressal and dispute resolution.
Identify resources and prepare a directory of the same for ready reference and availability
Liaison with print and electronic media in terms of dissemination/education on issues related to microfinance sector.
Sa-Dhan membership coordination, membership growth, regular contacts and visits to members in the region, identifying their needs and establish a flow of information with the head office.
Support programs/interventions of Sa-Dhan at the regional level.
Undertake and assist in Code of Conduct Assessments and capacity building programs of members.
Prepare and submit field visit report and monthly update to Sa-Dhan head office.
Any other work assigned from time to time.
The candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Business Administration, Rural Development or other related discipline.
At least three to five years of relevant experience in the microfinance or development sectors.
The candidate should also have experience and understanding of providing technical and capacity-building support to organizations at the community level.
A dynamic self-starter with good experience in policy and advocacy work with strong written and verbal communication skills. The candidate should have reasonable experience of working in the area of microfinance and an understanding of MFI operations. Experience of working with multiple stakeholders in civil society and the government at different levels will be a plus.
Good communication and presentation skills. Fluency in English and regional language is essential. Knowledge of other regional languages would be an added value.
