Pro-WEAI Baseline Results from the Initiative Building the Resilience of Vulnerable Communities in Burkina Faso (BRB)

Developing project-level indicators to measure women’s empowerment

This report documents a quantitative assessment completed as part of a pilot test of the Project-level Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Index (pro-WEAI). The WEAI was the first comprehensive standardized measure to capture women’s empowerment and inclusion in the agricultural sector. The pro-WEAI seeks to assist individual organizations and projects with measurement tools that can be used to assess empowerment of women within the context of agricultural projects.

This paper provides a summary of baseline data from the pro-WEAI collected under the Building the Resilience of Vulnerable Communities in Burkina Faso (BRB) project. It includes information on the background of the BRB project, descriptions of the methods, results from the pro-WEAI baseline, and a sample of results from the BRB impact study baseline.
