Call for Abstract for Special Issue: "Spatial Dimensions of Financial Inclusion: Inequalities, Territories and Economic Development"

A special issue of Economies, an international peer-reviewed open access journal published by MDPI, invites research exploring how geographic and territorial factors shape financial inclusion and economic development. The issue will examine spatial inequalities in access to financial services, including urban-rural divides, regional disparities, and the role of territorial infrastructure. It will also consider how digital finance, fintech, and mobile banking can address or, in some contexts, reinforce existing forms of financial exclusion.

The Guest Editor, Prof. Dr. Cyril Fouillet of ESSCA School of Management, welcomes theoretical, empirical, and policy-oriented contributions on topics including regional growth, local financial ecosystems, rural and mountainous regions, digital divides, spatial planning, and alternative financial services. Research articles, review articles, and short communications are invited. 

The deadline for manuscript submissions is 1 August 2027.
