FAO Drives a Generational Renewal in Family Farming With Digital and Financial Inclusion

Of the 1.3 billion young people aged 15 to 24 worldwide, 46% live in rural areas, and 44% depend on agrifood systems for their employment. Despite this strong connection to rural areas and food production, generational renewal remains one of the main challenges for the sustainability of family farming.

To address this challenge, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), through the Regional Technical Platform for Family Farming, launched the third edition of the Cycle of Technical Exchanges for Family Farming, a space designed to promote dialogue, cooperation and learning among countries, with a view to the development and implementation of tools, programs and policies that strengthen the sector, within the framework of the United Nations Decade of Family Farming (2019-2028).
