Responding to COVID-19 in Indonesia

A community-side story of quick response and gradual adaptation of the low and middle income segment to the global pandemic

This report highlights insights from the MSC study to understand the economic and health impact of COVID-19 on low and middle-income (LMI) Indonesians. The study is part of a multi-country research initiative to understand the impact of COVID-19 on LMI segments across Asia and Africa.

Two rounds of data collection in Indonesia was conducted. For the first round of data collection on the impact of COVID-19 on LMI people, 80 LMI households were interviewed in April, 2020. The second round was conducted in July, with 241 LMI households across the three main islands of Java, Sumatra, and Bali. In both rounds,  data was collected through phone interviews.
