Emerging Insights Roundtable: Financial Inclusion Innovations for Healthcare in a Changing Climate

Climate change is emerging as one of the most pressing global health challenges, compounded by an existing gap in essential health services and increasing catastrophic health spending. The impact of this intersection of challenges disproportionately burdens low- and middle-income populations.

Innovations in financial inclusion enable these vulnerable populations to access healthcare services, better protect their health, become more resilient and take preventative measures in the face of extreme weather events and changing climatic conditions.

The Swiss Capacity Building Facility (SCBF), supported by the UBS Optimus Foundation, recently published a new report, Financial Inclusion Innovations for Healthcare in a Changing Climate. The report explores the challenges and opportunities for improving access to healthcare and reducing impoverishing health expenditures for low- and middle-income populations in the face of climate conditions that threaten health and livelihoods.

The roundtable discussion will bring together senior experts working at the intersection of climate, health and financial inclusion to highlight innovative solutions and priority areas for action by funders and financial service providers.
