Cracking the Nut 2019: Leveraging Systems for Improved Food Security, taking place in Dakar, Senegal on 14 - 15 October 2019, will showcase 18 thought-provoking breakout sessions to engage and challenge practitioners to try and tackle some tough nuts related to leveraging systems for improved food security. Some of this year’s sessions include:

  • Increasing Climate Resilience and Agricultural Productivity through Highly-Accurate, Mobile Tropical Weather Forecasting. Ignitia will examine forecasting in West Africa and the deployment of last-mile solutions for enhancing climate resilience and productivity across the agricultural value chain.
  • Improving Nutrition in Kenya through Diversification for Nutrition and Enhanced Reliance (DiNER) FairsCatholic Relief Services (CRS) will look at how seed security systems can be effectively used to promote nutrition among vulnerable communities recovering from emergencies.
  • Tracking Systemic Change for Women and Youth: The Case of Uganda. Tetra-Tech will share lessons learned on women’s empowerment, youth engagement, and measuring systemic change, based on the implementation of two consecutive market systems programs in Uganda.
