This study seeks to understand the current and future state of Mobile Value Added Services (MVAS) in India. It also examines the key drivers, challenges, and solutions that can spur the growth of the ecosystem.

The mobile phone’s applications make it an integral part of our life. While the reach of the mobile phone is significant and its potential to deliver services is immense, the range of services currently being offered in the Indian market is limited. There are a plethora of needs, ranging from health and education to financial inclusion and governance that it can serve.

The study delves into the potential of MVAS to enhance the quality of life and standard of living for major sections of the Indian populace, including the effective and efficient delivery of government services. Challenges to the growth of MVAS include gaps in:

  • Policy framework;
  • Support infrastructure;
  • Cohesive ecosystem.
