Empowering Rural Women in Mali Through Self-Help Groups
The Yeredeme / Self-help group methodology has proven to be a powerful tool for empowering women and reducing poverty through easy access to financial services in Mali. The success of the expansion will not only increase financial inclusion in the targeted areas but also confirm the methodology as an effective tool for economic, social, and financial inclusion that can be utilized in other regions of the country.
This study highlights the approach used to enable women to access credit and develop income-generating activities that contribute to their empowerment and give them access to microcredit; the challenges faced by women in accessing these services, including cultural, social, and economic barriers; and examples of results achieved and testimonials on women's financial and economic inclusion.
