Digital Credit Consumer Risks in Côte d'Ivoire
This Slide Deck is a supplement to the official CGAP Blog "Digital Credit in Côte d'Ivoire: A Double-Edged Service" (Jun 2023).
This study is part of the activities of the Laboratory for the Protection of Consumers of Digital Financial Services in the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) launched by CGAP in 2021, with the objective of helping local actors build a responsible ecosystem for digital financial services at the national and regional level.
The study, which was carried out for CGAP in the first half of 2022 by Horus Development Finance, centers around the results of a survey on digital credit risks in Côte d'Ivoire. It seeks to analyze the impacts and risks associated with the use of digital credit and the opportunities for improving consumer protection.
CGAP also commissioned a survey on the risks faced by users of digital financial services and an analysis of the mechanisms for collecting and processing complaints and complaint data. The results of the risk survey and complaints analysis can be accessed here (in French). The full report is available in French here.
This work was commissioned by CGAP and funded in whole or in part by CGAP as part of its Protecting Vulnerable Customers project. Unlike CGAP’s official publications, the viewpoints and conclusions expressed are those of the authors and they may or may not reflect the views of CGAP staff
